Following 25 years of operation, the Portland Marine group of companies, now under the new exclusive management of PBS SA Capital Group, is preparing a global market launch of its newly re-branded international operations.
Under this new corporate structure, PBS SA Capital Group will act as the group’s exclusive corporate and financial portfolio manager, in order to more effectively execute the group’s new dynamic growth strategy, which is to capitalize on today’s international financial market trends.
PBS SA Capital Group is headed by CEO, Alexander Christodoulakis, a financier and entrepreneur, with a proven successful track record of performance covering more than two decades.
He comes from a family with a long-term tradition in the industrial and merchant marine sectors.
Until early 2008, Alexander led Portland Marine Group, guiding highly diversified shipbuilding activities, extending from Europe to the Asia Pacific.
He was integral in redesigning ships to meet the highest performance specifications.
The company managed and operated one of the world’s largest shipbuilding portfolios, consisting of more than 202 vessels, with approximately 1/3 held directly and the balance for its partner companies.
The Portland Marine Group portfolio encompassed VLCCs, Capesize vessels, Supramax Bulk carriers, Chemical Product Tankers and a range of Container vessels, with value at the time exceeding US$3.5 billion.
Under Alexander’s astute leadership, Portland Marine exited the ship-building market, prior to the global financial collapse, but remained in the shipping market with very reduced exposure.
The Portland Marine Group continues as a marine investment holding enterprise, focusing on global transport marine services as well as the energy sector.
Alexander sits on the boards of several companies and lends his expertise to multi-national corporations, large institutions, and state enterprises, where he has acted as a strategic advisor to several heads of state, advising them on vital economic and key industry matters.
In recent years, Alexander was involved in the clean-tech market, previously managing one of the sector’s largest portfolios, in terms of megawatts of power generation.
While still heavily involved in the transportation sector, today, PBS SA Capital operates across a broad spectrum of industries, with a strong representation in the oil & gas, energy & utilities, and metals & mining sectors.
With a growing international portfolio, the company provides global financial solutions and corporate management services to - emerging, middle market and large cap companies.
With a global markets coverage ranging from Toronto to Tokyo, PBS SA Capital has access to more than 10 stock exchanges and their alternative markets for financing and listing strategies.
